History was made in Umunede on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 as the traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty Obi Dr. Ezeagwu Ezenwali Agadagidi I, installed a youth, Comrade Henry Ogorchukwu, popularly called Goddey-Nwa-gborma from the Obi Quarters of Umunede, as the (number 1 Iyase) (Prime Minister).

Obi Ezeagwu admonished Comrade Ogorchukwu to know that by his installation as the Iyase, that his level and reasoning has changed, advising that henceforth, that he should have high respect for the palace, the traditional institution and the elders that he would be respected for who he is and for him to live long.According to him, “The gods are wise. It is now on record that a youth in the person of Comr. Ogorchukwu has taken the mantle of the (number 1) Iyase of Umunede Kingdom despite the challenges of who would emerge the Iyase for over three years”.He congratulated Ogorchukwu and prayed that he lives to old age in good health.

Responding, the Akonuweh of Umunede and Chairman Umunede Council of Chiefs, Chief Amos Onyeagwu enjoined the new Iyase to remain focused and make good use of the admonition of the monarch to represent progressively, reminding him to drop his old ways of life as youth and not be carried away with the title of Iyase to do whatsoever he likes as that is contrary to the wishes of the people.

On his part, the Ihiama of Umunede Kingdom, Chief Adosa Chinedu Charles said the Egwechime people in Obi quarters of Umunede thank the monarch greatly for accepting to install a youth as their Iyase. He remarked that his joy knows no bound with history made from Obi quarters that a vibrant youth who is a graduate has been installed the Iyase.

In appreciation, Comrade Ogorchukwu thanked the Obi of Umunede, elders of Egwechime and Obi quarters as a whole for finding him worthy to be installed the Iyase, saying that he is happy and humbled.He appreciated God for his elevation as one of the decision makers in the community. He said the Iyase conferred on him is an obligation to contribute his quota to the development and growth of Umunede.He prayed God for direction in other not to fail his people, assuring that he will work closely with the monarch, the Council of Chiefs and elders whenever he is called upon.
