Rev. Prof. Akokotu who is known for his love for spiritual mothers and less privileged in the society donated bags of rice, 5liters of groundnut oil, pieces of wrappers, copies of Ika Bibles, copies of 2021 calendars, books and other food items to the beneficiaries.

While addressing the gathering, the General Overseer of the Church and Member of Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council, Rev. Prof. Oke Akokotu expressed gratitude to God for His grace and love.According to him, “About ten years ago, the Lord ministered to me to meet the needs of the wives of the past ministers, even when I did not have anything, my wife and I were privately doing it until it became pronounced

Most of the government empowerments do not cover this category of people. These people cannot not come out to start dragging for something, because of who they are in the society. Some of the government palliatives do not extend to them. These people need our help and supports.

This seasonal programme is particularly organized for the wives of the ministers who have passed on to glory in Ika land. We are doing this not because we have too much but it is a way of showing God’s grace in our lives.

Many of these women need to be supported. While others in the society are planning for secular widows, they should also consider the spiritual mothers as well, whose husbands have passed on to glory. They should not only be remembered during Christmas period but also at other times”.He therefore called on government, well meaning individuals to extend their hands of generosity to them, as God who is the husband of the widows will bless them in all areas of life.

Responding, the Commissioner of Women of Affairs, ably represented by Mrs Adebayo thanked the Man of God for his kind gesture towards the well being of the widows, saying that she will make their matters known to the Commissioner, so that Government can take drastic actions towards meeting the spiritual mothers needs.

In his remark, Chief Ignatius Agidi maintained that Rev. Prof. Akokotu is doing a great work in the vineyard of God. He said that it is profitable to give than to receive and as such he enjoined all ministers in the house of God to emulate what Rev. Prof. Akokotu is doing.

On their parts, the women who were beaming with smiles in their separate remarks lauded the efforts of the Man of God, stating that Christmas is indeed settled for them. They prayed God to prosper him and his family in areas of life.

High points of the occasion were, presentation Christmas gifts to the spiritual mothers and taking of photographs.
