UNIDEL: Thanks, Gov Okowa For The Uncommon Gesture
The news of the passage of the bill giving teeth to the establishment of University of Delta, Agbor, (Unidel, Agbor), has come as a top draw from the string of good news that has become synonymous with Agbor Kingdom recently. When the bill was initially proposed by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to the Delta State House of Assembly to establish University of Education, Agbor, we wholeheartedly thanked you for the gesture, promising to engage the state legislature with a view to making it a full fledged university. As promised, we made a rich presentation at the public hearing organized by the state legislature in order to churn out a very good bill that incorporates our interests. True to our expectations, the Delta State House of Assembly, today, Tuesday, 23 of March, 2021, graciously passed a bill establishing University of Delta, Agbor, that will be appropriately referred to as Unidel, Agbor. To this gesture, we thank you, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for proactively sending the executive bill for the establishment of a university in Agbor. We may not go to the rooftop to cheer the “Roadmaster” for this unexpected gesture but we are sure that your action will cement your name in the sand of time. Our gratitude goes too to the Delta State House of Assembly who against all odds gave the bill the accelerated hearing it deserved. To Prof Patrick Muoboghare, the Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, we owe him one for the tenacity and steely resolve to stand firm in defending what’s right. For Hon Festus Chukwuyem Okoh, Member, Delta State House of Assembly, representing Ika South Constituency, we didn’t expect less. We are aware of his contributions to support the bill. His efforts have further elevated him in the Agbor Hall of Fame. He is truly a concerned citizen. The new University of Delta, Agbor, has immense capacity to attain greatness considering the facilities available at the Agbor Technical College and State School of Nursing, Agbor as well as the Agbor Central Hospital. In no distant time, we are confident that these facilities will become part of the university that will truly provide the needed research that our community currently crave. His Excellency, we are aware that the bill won’t stay long on your table before accent is given. Accept our assurances that we will reach our prominent sons and daughters of Ika Nation as well as corporate organisations to support the new school.Once again, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, we thank you.Truly yoursMr. Echi Obue (JP)—-Chairman, Concerned Citizens of Agbor Initiative also known as CACMr. Williams Eghebi—Secretary, Concerned Citizens of Agbor Initiative, also known as CAC.
