Delta Local Government Polls Of 6th March, 2021; A Dance Of Shame.

The element of spice in every game is the competitive nature that flows with it. Without competition and rivalry, a game will basically lose its zest and becomes fundamentally boring. Politics is one of those kind of games that borders on competition and rivalry in that regard.

There must be a level playing ground for contests, before the winner and the loser can be ascertained. The recent Local Government polls that were conducted by the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) was a historical disgrace.

It has evidentially proven the fact that the state Government is not sincere with its campaigns for the enthronement of a modern day Delta State via matching words and promises with deeds and conducts.The episode on the 6th of March, 2021 was a monumental fraud, one that has never been seen in any part of this world. Hitherto, we have been experiencing various kinds of Electoral Malpractices in Nigeria, but the scenario on that fateful day was a grand and sophisticated fraud.The DSIEC in conspiracy with the PDP, in what looked like a state orchestrated agendum, began the entire hanky panky game by substituting the names of the APC’s submitted lists of their would-be ‘Supervisors’, especially in Ika North-East Local Government Area.At the DSIEC office, in Owa-Oyibu, Headquarters of the Local Government Area, the thugs as allegedly hired by PDP, intimidated other Party Agents and physically assaulted them. It was even alleged that the Divisional Police Office (D.P.O.) of Owa-Oyibu Police Division, who was trying to make a video and as well take some photographs of the sacrilege as being perpetrated, was rough-handled in an attempt to seize his personal mobile phone.

Coming down to the Wards, most of the Primary Schools that were supposed to be used as Polling Centres, especially in Ika North-East Local Government Area, were under locks and keys.Electoral Materials were hijacked, seized and taken to the individual homes of some PDP acclaimed leaders, within the various Communities. The Electorates who were stranded and frustrated, went home without even voting in the end, especially in my home town Umunede and other neighbouring Communities like, Mbiri, Ute-Erumu, Ute Okpu, Igbodo and so many other towns and villages in Ika North-East Local Government Area of the state.

There were basically no election in most parts of the state as the shameful conspiracy made APC to pull out of the election, in order to avoid confrontations that may lead to mayhem.With results written in favour of the PDP, prior to the elections, as a confirmation of their various campaign statements, that oppositions were wasting their time and resources, the will of the people has been upturned once again.

The most hilarious part of the story is that the DSIEC, shamelessly came up with a result of the affected areas, whose process were ab-initio a nullity and went on to announce them.

That election is rather one of the most unfortunate event that can be associated with the state in recent times and the significance of such manner of impunity is that the degree of confidence in our people, with regards to the Government of the state, is diminished already.

Sadly, the way Malpractices are being encouraged and celebrated out of sentiments in this part of the world is our greatest undoing as a people. If we fail to initiate a change of attitude in every level of life we find ourselves, we will continually dwell within the Circle of Doom, because “what goes around, comes around”.

A CLARION CALL ON ALL PARTY FAITHFULS AND SUPPORTERS TO FULLY PARTICIPATE

The Freedom of Association is one of the most glamorous provisions of the Constitution, which should not be treated with levity at any particular point in time. Man is a political animal and his most potent and powerful weapon lies in his Armoury of Association.In the field of politics, powers are being acquired through the Principle of Majority, which is highly influential in decision making and as a matter of fact, no single tree has ever made a formidable political forest since the inception of time.

As proud and committed members of the All Progressive Congress (APC), I believe that every one of us is saddled with the responsibility of mobilizing our numerous and teeming members and supporters to formally register with the party in order to identify with her in all the processes for effective representation.It’s pertinent that as the APC Party Convention, which is scheduled to hold sometime in 2021 approaches, party members and supporters should be sensitized on the scheduled APC Members Registration Exercise and encourage everyone to formally pencil down his or her name as a

Progressive.Individuals or groups that previously perceived any form of marginalization should see this Registration Exercise as an opportunity to re-establish their interest(s) in the party as stakeholders, by the mass-mobilization of like minds to register with the party, so that there will always be a “backup” number, whenever there are contentions of interests.

For instance, the issue of sponsorship and imposition of wrong candidates by certain party chieftains can be checkmated since we can lend our voices with our membership cards. In other words, our membership of the party avails us a stake in the party and authorizes us to elect leaders of our choosing.

In this regard, we can also contend with them with our votes as registered and eligible party members whenever they want to hatch their intentions of hijacking the party structures, as well as party policies in order to take unjustified and unprogressive control of party affairs.Fortunately, our dear party, is at the threshold of kick-starting an era of excellent political strides via some machinery overhauling and structural adjustment and as the party metamorphosis into greatness, it’s expected that the forthcoming Party Convention and other internal party events and activities, from the Wards to National Levels, are well decided to the satisfaction of all and sundry. This, I strongly believe can be achieved, if we all are empowered as members, by registering and possessing our Party Membership Cards. Every one of us must make our stakes in the party count by registering and influencing many others to do likewise, so that they can become acknowledged party members. This is one major way by which we can beat our chests and confidently say that “We belong to the ruling party”.

In conclusion, I want to use this medium to practically encourage and urge every one of us to heed this clarion call and join this great voyage of reformation to make our party great again.Go, register and obtain your cards as members of the All Progressive Congress.

Dome Bright taking entertainment to the next level in Ika Land

The name, Dome Bright is now a household one in Ika Land. The Umunede born comedian through a dint of hard work is gradually carving a niche for himself. Christened Chukwudome Bright at birth but, goes with the stage name, ‘Dome Bright’, he is seriously committed and focused in the business of comedy that he cannot trade it for anything.Dome Bright’s talent in comedy was discovered during the maiden edition of Ika Carnival held from December 15- January 2, 2014. The carnival was the brainchild of ace entertainment guru and former House of Representatives aspirant in Ika Federal Constituency, Hon Sebastine Okoh. Dome Bright during the carnival displayed a wonderful performance that placed him on a watch list of young talents of Ika extraction. Since the carnival, he has lived up to expectations of his people and admirers as he continues to display creditably in all his shows.In December, 2019, Dome Bright took everyone by storm as he organzied one of the biggest entertainment shows in Ika Land with “I Go Die” in attendance. Mr Francis Agoda, who popularly goes by the stage name, “I Go Die is an ace comedian and one of the most successful talents in Nigeria. The event which was held at Shalon Event Centre, near Zenith Bank, Agbor was attended by the political class, businessmen, youths and entertainment lovers in Ika Land and beyond. The accolades that accompanied the event was a plus and boost for Dome Bright, a feat that elevated him in comedy.

Meanwhile, another great feat was achieved on December 26, 2020 by Dome Bright as he played host to another ace comedian in Nigeria, “Gordon” at New Mandarin Hall, Agbor. The well attended event was indeed a huge one. During the event awards were given to outstanding Ika persons who are contributing meaningfully to the growth and development of the entertainment industry in Ika Land.Elated Dome Bright after the event said that he is grateful to all who made it happen. He has promised to take entertainment in Ika Land to a higher level and also, establish a comedy academy where young talents will be discovered and groomed.

He said, “I want to officially appreciate all sons and daughters of IKA NATION both home and in the Diaspora for supporting my brand”.He specially thanked Prophet J.A.Abraham, Dr Donald Peterson, Mr. Okafor Onyeka, also known as, Don Drogba, Hon Sebastine Okoh ,Emmy Turkey, Kay C, CEO, MR TAXI, Mr. Steve Ashien, CEO, Ika Weekly Newspaper, Mr. Augustine Ekamagule, CEO, Ika Mirror Newspaper, Mr Okonma, CEO, Smiles Table Water, Mrs. Nkonye, also known as, Lady V, Dome Sandy Event world and Arch. Bishop Solution Osamudiameh for their various contributions in his career.
