Social Studies Department COE, Agbor Bids Aghaulor, Onyesom Farewell

Social Studies Department, College of Education (COE), Agbor has on Friday,December 4, 2020 held send-forth party in honour of their retired staff, Dr. Samuel Iyama Aghaulor and Mr. L.O.N Onyesom respectively.The Provost, College of Education, Agbor, Dr. Joseph O. Ukadike remarked that Aghaulor and Onyesom have left indelible marks in the Department of Social Studies and the College as whole.

According to him, “I am proud to be a product of the Department of Social Studies because whatsoever I have become today was as result of the preparations I got as a student and lecturer. Without mincing words, “I will say that we are doing great in Social Studies Department, College of Education, Agbor”.

Dr. Ukadike further remarked that Dr. Aghaulor remained a material to education, while calling on him and Onyesom to be joyous for the fact they retired meritoriously and honourably since they were never found wanting during their service years.

He congratulated them on their successful retirement, even as he lauded the Head of Social Studies Department, College of Eductaion, Agbor, Chukwuka Justus Iwegbu for deeming it wise to celebrate their retirement.

Earlier in his brief speech, Iwegbu thanked the Provost, Principal officers of the college and other invited guests present for coming. He stated that the good works of Dr. Aghulor and Onyesom cannot be forgotten in the history of the Department and the College, as God for their lives.

In her lecture on Leaving a Fulfilling and Purposeful Life at Retirement, the guest lecturer, Dr. (Mrs) P. Okokoyo stated that retirement is not scary but sweet when one prepared ahead to conquer the challenges after retirement. She encouraged the retirees to endeavour to get involved in activities that will keep them busy and also to continue to make money no matter how small to avoid mental stress and anxiety from boredom which according to her kills slowly.

She used the opportunity to call on all serving staff to plan early enough for retirement foe the fact that it must come someday in order to conquer the fears of it. And in conclusion, Dr. Okokoyo enjoined retirees to eat well and commit themselves to regular exercise to remain strong while they age.

The Public Relations Officer of the college, Hon. Ferdinand Iweriebor in his goodwill message described Dr. Aghulor as teacher par excellence. According to him, “Dr. Aghulor has done very well as once a student under his tutelage in the department. He is a disciplinarian and has a special tone of voice in teaching”.

He appreciated Dr. Aghulor and Oyesom for their quality services and impacts to humanity.Responding, Dr. Aghulor said they feel highly honoured, while appreciating the staff of Social Studies Department, principal officers of the college and all who have gathered to share in their joy of retirement for coming. He encouraged serving staff to continue to render quality service to be remember after their service years.
