The Chairman of the group and Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Land and Security, Comr. Junaidu Imam, who spoke to Ika Mirror Newspaper, appealed to the People’s Democratic Party led by the amiable Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, to urgently rehabilitate the road in order to ease the suffering of the residents. He decried that same road has become “a death trap”, pointing out that major potholes on the road could possibly swallow a whole building. He said, “the road is in terrible shape and we as members of URPM, we have done our bit in clearing overgrown weeds on the road. But that wasn’t enough because the road needs to, at least, be graded to allow easy passage.”

Comr. Junaidu however commended Governor Okowa on his unprecedented strides in road projects across the state, but stressed that same initiative be extended to the said Obi road to enable the residents, who according to him participated immensely to his re-election, to enjoy the dividends benefit.

All we ask for is the grading of the road. This will go along way to making the road passable while lifting the danger being experienced on same road.

The Local Government Council can also take this call as sacrosanct being the fact that it has tractors which, if put into a working condition, can grade the road.

The bad road have caused the death of many while others easily fall prey to kidnappers and armed robbers,” he added.
