…as Chuky Dandy expresses deep concern
The Delta State government led by Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has commenced vaccination against the outbreak of yellow fever decease across the state.
The exercise kick started in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State on Friday, November 13, 2020 at the Local Government Primary Health Care Center in Agbor with the dispatch of sixteen (16) teams of health officials to the twelve (12) Wards of the constituency.
The training and grouping of health workers for the exercise was observed by the Honourable member representing Ika South Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Festus Chukwuyem Okoh also known as Chuky Dandy, who was more concerned about the well-being of his people.
The decease, according to the State Health Educator and Director, Community Development Social Mobilization and Advocacy, Mrs. Ijeoma Popo, comes with a bite from a special type of mosquito named Aedes aegypti and it’s symptoms comes with fever, headache, yellowness of eyes and in severe cases, infected persons begins to vomit, stool, as well as bleeding from both eye, nose and vomitory.
She further explained that the mosquito bites mostly at day times while the vaccine which is injectable, was the surest and easier way of protecting the people from being infected by the decease.“The vaccinators would be identified with their uniforms, kit boxes and would be stationed at a post in each Wards for the exercise.“The vaccine is ones in lifetime and for people between the ages of 9 months to 44years while the exercise will last for 10 days from 13th to 23rd of November, 2020,” she added.
While encouraging the public to come out with their family members to get vaccinated, Mrs. Popo pointed out that the vaccine is safe and free as the State government amongst other partners have committed much fund in a bid to curtail the spread of the decease in Delta State.Similarly, she commended Chuky Dandy for his effort in ensuring that the people of Ika South are been vaccinated timely, adding that his concern proves him to be a true leader who cares for his people.

On his part, Chuky Dandy ably represented by Hon. Edwin Okoh, applauded the take off of the exercise in Ika South.He expressed deep concern about the health status and welfare of his constituents amidst his fears of the Yellow Fever case being recorded in the neighbouring local government, Ika Northeast LGA, acknowledging that he wants the vaccination to get through the length and breathe of Ika South.
I do not want a situation where we will record mutuality rate in Ika South as being observed in our sister local government. Therefore, I urge the entire citizenry of Ika South LGA, between the age of 9 month to 44 years, to get immunized to have our dream of healthy Ika South achieved, he said”
He used the medium to thanked Governor Okowa for putting his feet on ground in making sure that there is full containment of the decease. He also appreciated the Commissioner for Health and staffers of the State Ministry of Health for responding swiftly to his call.
