In line with the SMART ‘Prosperity For All Deltans’ and the directive of His Excellency Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to all appointees not to neglect the larger populace, the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta state Governor on Youth Mobilization for Positive Change, Hon. Christian Okpambor through his foundation, the Christian Okpambor Foundation duly registered both in the US and in Nigeria, in collaboration with Generation~Okowa today hosted Deltans from all works of life to a grand reception to commemorate the country’s 56th year of Independence.
Describing it as nothing new, Hon. Christian who is well known all over the state for his empowerment gestures, told excited journalists that this is the second time such a meeting is taking place this year.
“I have a soft spot for those who can do better, but do not have the opportunity. This is the second time this year I am meeting with different Deltans, empowering them to establish their own businesses and ensuring that we drain out unemployment from the state through changing the mindsets of our youths positively. A lot of people expected it to be an ‘Ika’ affair, but as you can see, all the ethnic groups in the state are well represented here. We have the Urhobos, Ijaws, Itsekiris and even some Isoko youths present here. Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa is a detribalized Deltan, and so are all his appointees. I always thank God each and every time I have the opportunity to empower Deltans” he said.
Stating the reason for the gathering, Hon. Okpambor said, “it is an opportunity to gather Deltans from different diverse cultures together under one Umbrella, to celebrate our country’s 56th year of liberation. I must add, that it is another opportunity to empower our able bodied, but yet idle youths to start up businesses in different skills that they must have learnt. Yes, it is another opportunity to change the orientation of our youths towards a positive mindset, empower our women, to support their husbands and encourage our aged men through the Christian Okpambor Foundation in collaboration with Generation~Okowa. I couldn’t have traded this opportunity for anything in the world” he concluded.
Present also at the gathering was Hon. Christian Okpambor, Comr. Tomi Akporoghene Wojuola, Comr. Christian Onwogbolu, Comr. YKC Nyemike (Generation~Okowa) amongst many other dignitaries.
