Former United States President Barack Obama has released his list of favourite songs, movies and books of 2018. The list was released on Friday evening on his official Instagram page, and featured Nigerian writer Chimamanda Adichie's 'Americanah'. Also on the list of his favourite books for the year is Nelson Mandela's 'Long Walk to Freedom', while 'Black Panther' was on the list of his favourite movies. The Carters, featuring Beyonce and Jay-Z, made it to the list of his artistes who released one of his favourite songs, while American rapper, Carid B, also featured on the list. Fans of Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, some of whom had paid as much as N5million to see the singer perform, were unhappy as the show which was said to have been scheduled to start at 7pm did not start until about 12am. On Thursday morning at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island, Burna Boy joined the list of Nigerian artistes who start their shows behind schedule. As early as 5pm on Wednesday, fans had started trooping into the Eko Hotels and Suites venue of the 'Burna Live' concert. Recycling critical to environmental preservation, jobs – FBRA

The Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (FBRA) has emphasised waste recycling, especially those of food and beverage packaging, as vital in environmental preservation. According to FBRA, the value chain in the recycling process leads to job and wealth creation. FBRA Vice Chairman, Adekunle Olusuyi, who spoke at the 12th National Stakeholders’ Forum of the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) in Abuja, said the Alliance has been intensifying awareness on separation of waste and environmental pollution, especially on post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles, which can further be recycled to other useful products. Kano State Religious Police destroy 30 trailer loads of beer

The Kano State Hisbah Board has seized and destroyed more than 30 trailer loads of beer. The Board’s Public Relations Officer, Malam Adamu Yahaya, disclosed this in a statement in Kano on Tuesday. Yahaya said that the cartons of beer were destroyed on Monday evening after interception at Kalebawa on Danbata Road in Dawakin Tofa area. “The Kano State Law No. 4 of 2004 has banned the manufacture and use of intoxicants in the state.” Furthermore, an order was given by a magistrates’ court for us to go ahead with the exercise,” the Public Relations Officer said.
